Fullerene Impact on Single-Walled (10,10) Armchair Nanotube

Fullerene impact on a single-walled (10,10) armchair nanotube lying on a metallic substrate. Nanotube-based quantum dots may potentially be produced if fullerenes hit the nanotubes in predetermined positions.

ADAM: The Republicrats continue to favor centralized fossil fuels, hydroelectric and nuclear power generation. EVE: We favor power plants in and on every structure. ADAM: The Republicrats favor gasoline and electric powered cars. EVE: We favor magnetic mass and personal transportation. ADAM: The Republicrats want to bring back manufacturing jobs. EVE: We propose nanofactories in every home. ADAM: The Republicrats believe you should pay for your education and healthcare. EVE: We believe education and healthcare should be free and lifelong. ADAM: The Republicrats believe your retirement should be earned. EVE: We believe you can be born retired. ADAM: The Republicrats want top maintain a large standing army. EVE: We believe standing armies to be obsolete and propose all military functions be automated, until such time as other in our world forego primitive, barbarous behavior. ADAM: The Republicrats continue to agitate for the economics of scarcity. EVE: We advocate the economics of abundance. ADAM: The Republicrats would like to secure power for themselves. EVE: Wed like to secure liberty for you. ADAM: The Republicrats are headed for an apocalypse. EVE: Were headed for Eden. Were the National Optimists Party. Not to put too fine a point on it, we expect we have made the differences between ourselves and the others sufficiently clear to merit your support in November. Thank you.

Welcome to Home Nanofactories. See that computer printer in your home? It is the start of an evolution of printing technology that has gone from dot matrix (line at a time) to laser jet (page at a time). It has gone from black and white to full, rich color. It will take on much more sophistication in the years ahead. The next major paradigm shift will be 3d printing, where the printer will “print” in 3 dimensions and make all sorts of simple items like dinnerware, ashtrays, etc.  The really big paradigm shift will be the initial stages of nanoscale printing in 3d – where the specific “toner” in the printer will contain the component parts (atoms, molecules) that are necessary to build pretty much any physical item – from pencils to calculators to screen pcs – to even copies of itself.

Welcome to the world of the home nanofactory:-)            :-)

Brief Interruption.

Our Nanoscale Science and Engineering Center (NSEC) has partnered with the Advanced Computing Center for the Arts and Design (ACCAD) to create a visual representation of the hierarchical structure of research within the Center for Affordable Nanoengineering of Polymeric Biomedical Devices (CANPBD). This ambitious project has been nicknamed VIE, or Virtual Interactive Environment. The VIE will allow a user to review our Center’s testbeds, core technologies, projects, and people as well as see how every one of those ties in to the others.
